Recent outdoor learning, active & play area installs

Irthington Village School, Cumbria

Requirement:

The school required an all weather track around the perimeter of the school field along with an access path from the playground to the track

Solution:

Installation of a 229.9m Daily Mile track at a width of 1.2m, 7 laps of the track equates to the target distance of 1 mile. An 18m access path connecting the track to the playground was also installed.

Customer Comment:

"We have recently had a mile track installed on our school field, which the pupils and staff are all very excited about. From the moment that the Edspace staff arrived on site they were polite, courteous and very professional. They kept us informed of their progress and the various processes involved throughout the entire installation, seeking to reassure us at every opportunity. They were not deterred by the inclement weather, when it appeared, arriving early in the mornings and working late into the evenings to ensure that the work was completed within the timescale given and to a high standard. We would highly recommend Edspace as a company and would utilise their services in the future if undertaking other outdoor play area projects".

Livingstone Primary & Nursery School, Barnet.

Requirements:

The school required some additional play space and had identified a sloping area of grass adjacent to the playground to develop.

Solution:

A mini MUGA was suggested to provide an additional enclosed ball games area. The existing sloped grass area was removed and a retaining wall installed to provide a flat and level space along with a sports fence enclosure. A rubber polymeric sports surface was installed to complete the project.

Brats Day Nursery, Corby.

Requirements:

The customer had an existing mulch play surface which was causing staining to the children’s clothes due to the release of carbon black from the rubber shred used, and required a solution to stop this from happening.

Solution:

Edspace levelled the existing surface and dealt with some soft spots due to settlement of the base-works and installed a new artificial grass surface, using the existing mulch surface as a shockpad under the grass.
